Located in Charlotte, Green’s Diner offers a nostalgic trip for some but disappoints many. While long-time patrons rave about the traditional Southern comfort food, newcomers often leave underwhelmed. Many reviews highlight issues like lukewarm hot dogs, bland chili, and lackluster fries reminiscent of frozen options. The ambiance feels run-down, and the staff's demeanor doesn't help the experience. However, there are claims of excellent onion rings and free drink refills that appeal to certain diners. If you're venturing in for a bite, be prepared for uneven quality and manage your expectations accordingly.

I had a fantastic meal. I ordered a hotdog with chili and coleslaw, along with a cheeseburger. The onion rings were perfectly cooked and crispy, just how I like them. Even though the place was busy, the line moved quickly. It's a great spot for a quick and simple lunch uptown. View all feedback.

What Billy Costigan dislikes about Green's Lunch:
I spent more than $10 on chili cheese fries and a chili hot dog, and I was really disappointed. The chili cheese fries had no cheese at all and just a small spoonful of chili on top. I couldn’t help but laugh when I saw them. The hot dog was only about 6 inches long and had very little chili on it. It cost me $4. I would recommend skipping this place. I’m not sure what everyone else is raving about in their reviews, but this place is quite disappointing. The hot dogs were only lukewarm, clearly straight from a pot of water — boiled, no doubt. Perhaps some people enjoy boiled hot dogs, but I certainly don’t. The chili tasted like it was straight from a can, and I’ve had plenty of chili in my life; this was among the worst. The fries were like the frozen crinkle-cut kind you find in the freezer aisle at Walmart. They sit under a heat lamp and are completely unseasoned. While it’s nice to support local spots like this little hole-in-the-wall, the food just isn’t good. If you’re looking for high-quality meals, I’d recommend steering clear of this place. Those giving it 4-5 stars seem to be prioritizing nostalgia over the actual food quality.

Great local place with long history in Charlotte. The folks that run it are great.

We really enjoyed the hot dogs! The fries were served hot and were not greasy at all. It was great to have free refills on drinks! However, finding parking was a bit difficult; we had to park on the street for 25 cents.
