Was User at The Canberra Wine House a mag?
Tucked away in the Tradies Dickson, but VERY different to the Tradies Club. Serving locally produced wines which can be accompanied by some up market snakes (cheese boards etc). The atmosphere is delightful. I've been here for both work and pleasure. Occasionally has a live act - gent on a guitar. Very nice indeed. View all feedback.

What User dislikes about The Canberra Wine House:
The restaurant has a good concept, as Canberra has some fantastic wines. However, there are a few things that need to be improved. The beer glasses should be chilled, and the espresso martini was disappointing with bitter coffee that lacked depth and wasn't cold enough. On the bright side, the cheese board was excellent. The Canberra district probably isn't renowned for its wine, but there are several Canberra wineries doing some fine work. The soil and climate produce some fantastic grapes, and the expertise and experience in winemaking is steadily growing in the district. The Canberra Wine House at Dickson Tradies allows you to sample many of the results under the one roof. Bliss! Most are sold by the glass, and you can buy a bottle of whatever you fancy too. With platters of nibbles available, this was the perfect place to take some out-of-town visitors who enjoy a tipple. We look forward to going back.

Note: this review is for the wine tasting at the CWH - I did not dine there and make no comment on the food.Probably not well known yet - the Wine House is tucked into the back of the Tradies club in Dickson - enter via the front entrance of the club and walk through to the back. Tucked way certainly, but well worth the effort. The young staff are engaging, friendly and very knowledgeable about their products, which are the stars here. This club is showcasing Canberra region wines, very similar to set ups in other wine region destinations like the Hunter, Barossa and other South Australian regions. There are non vintage and vintage on tasting (small fee payable for vintage tasting - $5 the night we were there). This is a really good way to experience some of the varieties and quality of Canberra region wines in town before planning your drive into the surrounding area - remember there are around 42 wineries in the region now. Not all superstars for sure, but there is some world class cool climate vino on offer here - think Clonakilla and Shaw Vineyard Estate.A visit to CWH is highly recommended. This is a good idea with plenty of room to develop the space into something more special with a view to becoming a must do attraction on a visit to Canberra for all oenophiles! Enjoy ........

Found out that they actually have an outdoor area. However, I am not sure whether a winery still comes and offers tasting on Friday. There was someone on a Thursday night. The prices seem to have gone up a little bit, but it is still a great place to have wine and nibbles. Everyone who I took there loved it.

This place is a great place for locals and visitors to try wine and produce from the Canberra region. A selection of wine is available for wine tasting and by glass. Also on the menu are cheese, smoked meat, and sweet from the Canberra region. The price is very reasonable, and they have more wine and produce for purchasing. Each Friday, a different winery comes and offers wine tasting - a good opportunity to try something not on the menu.It s an internal room in the Tradie's building so it is not somewhere you would think of going on a nice day when you rather have a sip of wine outside. I would give five stars if they change the interior and furniture to form one style. NIce to sit on sofas but the cushion covers make me feel that I am at a granny's house. Native flowers on the table were a nice touch, and the staff are very friendly. You don't need to be a Tradie's member. Use the hotel entrance to get there.
