Never back! it used to be a really good restaurant, but this time it was okay to eat. what destroyed the dinner was the terrible setting of the restaurant manag... read more Never back! it used to be a really good restaurant, but this time it was okay to eat. what destroyed the dinner was the terrible setting of the restaurant manager. the other person maintenance was really friendly and apologetic when the order was delayed. when he was asked for the complaint book, the manager refused to give the book only if there was a serious complaint he cannot. No matter, never here again.

Everything was del... read more This restaurant focuses on cuisine from SW India Malabar in general, with focus on Kerala , departing from the mainstream Indian restaurants. Everything was delicious. The waiters were very kind and helpful. Since we didn't know the dishes, the quantity we ordered was a bit too much. We felt miserable for wasting the food, even more so because it was really delicious. But then, the waiter just packed the rest of the food, and informed us that it is usual practice to avoid wastage.

Equipa muito simpática que prestou um serviço muito bom. Experiência que vale a pena repetir. Altamente recomendado.

My wife and I live in the UK and were in Lisbon for a holiday. We went out to dine at Costa Do Malabar in Lisbon, in our pursuit of Keralan cuisine. (I hail ori... read more My wife and I live in the UK and were in Lisbon for a holiday. We went out to dine at Costa Do Malabar in Lisbon, in our pursuit of Keralan cuisine. (I hail originally from Kerala in India). Impressive menu, great food, heart warming hospitality. Tinto, the gentleman who waited on us at the place, made it a memorable evening. Young, smart, intelligent, and attentive, he is a sterling example of a host. We started off with a sambhaaram for drink. Sambhaaram is a classic keralan drink essentially delicately spiced butter milk. The sambhaaram that Tinto served was top class. We ordered Tamarind rice and avial and a serving of banana chips. Avial is a signature keralan mixed vegetable curry. Don't let the label of mixed vegetable mislead you, avial is not the typical mixed vegetable curry you get in North Indian cuisine. Avial is unique, and very tasty. The Tamarind rice and avial at Costa Do Malabar did not disappoint. The Tamarind rice was particularly good. My wife then ordered a masala dosa. Very well prepared, and served with chutney and sambhar. For dessert, we ordered semiya paayasam, a classic Indian pudding. Once again, the dish was superb. A very satisfactory end to the meal. Overall, dining at Costa Do Malabar was a very pleasant experience, with great food and heart warming hospitality. Tinto deserves special thanks for making it so. We plan to visit Lisbon again, and when we do, we will certainly dine at Costa Do Malabar. If you are in Lisbon, and are looking to savour Keralan cuisine, I would strongly recommend Costa Do Malabar.

Kerala, o estado mais a sul da Índia, é considerado como a Terra das Especiarias.<br/ <br/ Por ser o corno da Índia, era por ali que se faziam as trocas comerci... read more Kerala, o estado mais a sul da Índia, é considerado como a Terra das Especiarias.<br/ <br/ Por ser o corno da Índia, era por ali que se faziam as trocas comerciais com tudo o que era navegante que por ali passava, especialmente os nossos amigos europeus...<br/ <br/ A Costa do Malabar, onde fui almoçar, faz também jus a uma ligação ao mundo dos descobrimentos, neste caso das especiarias.<br/ <br/ Porque nos desafia permanentemente os sentidos e quando achamos que já apanhámos o sabor do prato, eis que se desenvolve logo a seguir um novo sabor que se agarra a todos os outros e torna a deglutição num ato complexo e desafiante para o palato.<br/ <br/ A sua linha dura é constituída por pratos muito fortes mas muito saborosos. O caril de peixe à Kottayam é disso exemplo embora se pedirmos um Puttu para o acompanhar em vez do habitual arroz vemos evoluir os sabores vincados das especiarias com o farelo frutado do coco e aí passamos a acreditar que há casamentos que podem e devem durar para a vida...<br/ <br/ A sobremesa iria passar por uma Beninka. Que novidade, certo?! Não desfazendo, é como ir a um restaurante português e pedir um leite creme, arroz doce ou uma mousse.<br/ <br/ Felizmente não havia...<br/ <br/ E felizmente porque em vez disso veio uma sobremesa especial do chefe, uma espécie de crumble de cenoura sarapintado com passas, cajú e pistachios que tornou o final desta experiência num epicurismo velado à culinária do sul da Índia.<br/ <br/ Namaste!<br/ <br/

Eu vinha com saudades de uma dosa e os belíssimos caril vegetariano, e durante o jantar fui transportada automaticamente para a Índia.Para a sobremesa um mango lassi.Foi a primeira mas não será a última visita.

O atendimento é bastante atencioso, num lugar simpático, simples mas acolhedor. A comida é de muito boa qualidade, original, diferente, e portanto alguns pratos poderão não ir ao encontro daquilo a que o paladar português está mais habituado. Talvez por isso mesmo, há uma preocupação por parte do restaurante em renovar o menu, mantendo os 'best sellers ', que é de louvar. Destaque para o dosa de frango e o masala de camarão de Katanadu que fica muito bem acompanhado por um arroz de limão. As chamuças são muito boas, e o pão kerala porotta bem diferente do nan mais conhecido por terras lusas vale muito a pena! Para além da elevada qualidade em doses bem servidas, ainda tem preços muito acessíveis. Recomendo! É um 4.5*.

Lovely dosa's with a variety of chutneys and sambar, a delicious Allepey curry and A sweet moilee. The ambience is a little dated and impersonal but flavors are second to none. Oh and the Keralan paratha is so fluffy and light, absolutely delicious. The one thing that is lamentable is the pricing as I know what a dosa is composed of, and the margins there are more than sufficient even at half the price they are already charging.
