Machu Picchu - Newburgh

Ordered the Machu Picchu rotisserie dinner- hostess was really nice. Chicken was dry and sauces were really bad. The red and green sauce tasted like too much pesto or epazote to be more accurate. The epazote flavor was too overwhelming and it made everything taste really bad. Rice was really good and salad was good too. French fries needed more salt but we just added some to the dish. Definitely not the best Peruvian chicken I’ve tasted. If you’re looking for real Peruvian food- you’ll find it on 74th street in Queens NY. This is okay but not the best. This has more flavor than Walmarts rotisserie chicken that’s for sure! Food: 3 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4

If you are not Peruvian, you may enjoy this restaurant. However, the food is not truly authentic Peruvian. It caters more to the American palate, resembling Tex-Mex cuisine. As someone who has grown up with Peruvian food and dined in Peru, I can say that if you are seeking authentic Peruvian cuisine, you may want to try a different restaurant. But for those looking to try Peruvian food for the first time, this could be a good introduction.

My wife, newborn baby and I arrived at the restaurant at 3pm only to find that the kitchen was still open but there were no tables available. We were seated at the bar because the tables section didn't open until 4pm. The atmosphere didn't feel welcoming for families, and the ceviche didn't taste authentic Peruvian. The restaurant didn't give off a Peruvian vibe, instead it felt more like a simple bar. We were not comfortable at all and this will be our first and last visit. I do not recommend this place.

Food was delicious! I ordered Ceviche Mixto and Papa la Huancaina (pictured). My friends ordered Aji de Gallina and Arroz con Pollo, and they loved it! Drinks were delicious as well.. Will definitely return!
