Barberitos - Abingdon

I’d been here before, and the last visit was enjoyable. Unfortunately, this time the food was nearly inedible. The steak appeared to have been stewed rather than grilled. The only decent aspects were the sauces and queso, both of which were just average. Save your money and choose a different restaurant.

I was extremely disappointed when my online order wasn't ready because of their technical issues, and the manager chose to assist another customer before me. This experience definitely warrants a 1-star review.

We visited the restaurant for the first time today with my husband and were the only customers there at 12:45 PM, which should have raised a red flag. We ended up being overcharged, and the food was bland and not fresh. Our order also didn’t match what was advertised. The salsa bar had three empty containers, and we had to request salsa. The most concerning issue was the bathroom sink, which was filled with dirty water and had a plastic bag stuck in it due to a clog. We couldn't wash our hands, which indicates the employees likely couldn't either. It was really unpleasant, and we won't be returning.

Scouring the map on our road trip and finding nothing familiar, we picked this because it seemed similar to Chipotle by description. While the menu called the chicken “marinated and grilled”, I would say the most similar product I could imagine is canned Costco chicken with some spices added and warmed. We were the only customers at peak dinner time, and the employees were as cold and dry mannered as possible; it was awkward. We were hungry, it filled our need but I would never recommend. It appeared that there were pieces of chicken in the red salsa at the salsa bar, which seemed a food safety issue, since the salsa sits at room temperature. The fewer the customers, the longer it sits.
