Lua Café - Abita Springs

This place is a gem! The people working there are so nice. My friend and I visited this restaurant last month and it was close to closing time. We explained that my friend was from NYC and would be going back the next day. They welcomed us and made us feel comfortable with ordering entrees. Their food is delicious, we enjoyed the tasty moist meat and the yuca wrapped in bacon. The little garden in the back of the restaurant is so beautiful and peaceful. Highly recommend this place to anyone around the area.

Holy cow! This place is awesome. Picked up some food to go and ended up eating it all in my car cause I could wait. The staff was incredibly sweet and helpful. The chef is hardworking and keeps her kitchen spotless. Fresh squeezed juices available. Cute location. I will be coming back! Good authentic food! The beef was so tender and flavorful. Good home cookin'

I love trying unique local restaurants whenever I'm in a new place. Passing through Covington today and was surprised to see a Brazilian cafe nearby in Abita Springs. This cafe is hosted inside a nursery and beautiful garden. It has a very homely feel and the employees are very friendly. After ordering, we walked around and enjoyed the different plants they had around the nursery. The menu has a good selection of appetizers and empanadas if you prefer to order a la carte. On the back there are entrees with your choice of meat. I had a heart of palm empanada, bacon wrapped yucca and a Chicken Rice plate. All the food was fresh and flavorful, I would love to try all the different options. We also had the coconut flan for dessert and that was awesome. 10/10 would eat here again!

I give the food and the friendliness of the people here 4 stars. The atmosphere would get less, however. It was pretty warm. It took a while for us to put in our order. The food came out quickly and was absolutely delicious. Fresh and flavorful. We were sitting for quite a while after we ate before we could get someone to help us get dessert to go and our check. Everyone was so busy, they could do with one more sherbet or cashier. But, I would come back due to the deliciousness of the food. We shared: a chicken and a beef pastel, the country chicken over polenta plate, fried yucca and black beans. The chicken with polenta had so much flavor! And everything else was wonderful too.

Ok first thing...I come into this lovely garden actually a nursery too) place and greeted by a lovely lady with a sweet smile. She helps guide me through my order got the ribs with rice and potato salad) after ordering I reached to my pocket and SNAP I forgot my I asked the young lady to put my order on hold while I drove back to my house to get money. I said unless you guys do Apple Pay ? She went back to ask the owner and the owner came out from the kitchen and said in a sweet thick Brazilian accent don 't worry, just eat the food you can pay me another time... that is OUR Apple Pay !!! Instantly I fell in love with this place. The food was very good. Slow braised ribs with nice deep rich flavors. The potato salad, which I 'm not a big fan of potato salad was delicious. Overall, the service was incredibly warm and for a place that 's barely 6 months open you definitely should check them out and support the local business!
