Totot - Addis Ababa

A bottle of Ambo costs 15 Eth Birr excluding VAT. Guess what the shark is in Totot will charge 59.29 Eth Birr excluding VAT. They have one of the worst services I have ever had in the entire Addis Abeba in particular and in the world in general. Be careful of the sharks of Totot in Addis Abeba stay away at all if possible

Nice and well-kept restaurant serving nicely prepared injera wot! Lots to choose from and nice service. On the downside, they have no fresh juices to drink. Also, in the evenings there is traditional music and dance performance which is nice but way too loud to speak comfortably with friends. They could use some more private corners in the restaurant to give some calm to those who want to talk. Still, a really nice place for a genuine Ethiopian meal. Try it out!

Set inside a really big traditional structure, it features low tables facing the stage. We went on a Monday night and there were a number of Ethiopian families and 2-3 tables of foreigners. Servers were very friendly and helpful, helping us understand the menu and pick what we wanted to try. The portions were humongous. There was a live band and dancers, but it wasn 't so loud as to be overwhelming (we sat away from the stage). It 's a little pricey, likely for the show aspect, but not over the top. I 've never been to the other popular traditional restaurants to compare.

Totot's is an Ethiopian cultural restaurant with a very nice cuisine specializing in local dishes and drinks. We ordered tibs (deep fried beef), teb (a honey wine like mead), and injera an Ethiopian staple. The food was very tasty and of much higher quality than that found in most Ethiopian restaurants. As there is an evening floor show, the prices shift significantly around 7:00 pm. If you are there for the food, then noon and before 7:00 pm might appeal to your budget.

Totot restaurant is situated next to NEXUS hotel in a semi-industrial area on a busy road. The place looks like a traditional ethiopian hut. Every evening traditional dances are shown on stage. The place is usually packed, especially on weekends. A buffet dinner costs 250 ETB, a 33cl beer 37 ETB, all a bit over-prized in my opinion. Behing Totot is my bar a simple ethiopian bar where also few ethiopian dishes are available. at better quality and muxh lower prices than at TOTOT
