Whitsunday Sailing Club - AIRLIE BEACH

I went to the Whitsunday Sailing Club for dinner last night and was thoroughly impressed. The chef really knows their stuff - every dish I saw looked delicious. I particularly recommend trying the scallops and the Seafood pasta. Even if it's busy, the bar staff are friendly, the beer is cold and the view is stunning. Make sure to book in advance so you don't miss out on this amazing experience.

Wow. This place has really gone downhill in terms of service and quality of food. It took too long to order a salad. When the avocado//salmon salad came it did not have the extra avocado that was paid for. The Ceasar salad we ordered had a hard boiled egg which is not usual for a Ceasar salad. We requested a par boiled egg which was delivered. At the bottom of the salad was a hair. Overall the food was sub par. The drink service was inadequate. We do not blame the staff as they have not been trained. They were lovely but not up to the task. They really need to get sorted as locals we will not be back.

Upon entering the restaurant, we expected to be seated. However, we were given the cold shoulder by a couple of waiters who intentionally avoided us and headed into the kitchen without making eye contact. When I inquired about finding a table to another staff member, he simply replied that he would check for available tables. He returned with menus and told us to find a table ourselves, but unfortunately, there were no empty tables in sight. Disappointed by the lack of effort from the staff, we decided to leave. It's disheartening to have such a poor service experience, especially when this place has received so much praise from others.

The dining experience was fantastic and the portion sizes were generous. We will definitely be returning for another meal.
