Food came out promptly after ordering and the fish on the poke salad and chirashi don was nice and fresh. My friend appreciates good sashimi wherever we go and she gave Yojimbo a thumbs up. The chicken on the donburi was surprisingly flavorful and grilled, not simply boiled chicken and egg. I wish they had some togarashi but they had none to offer. I also ordered 3 basic rolls to go for a friend (Cali, spicy tuna and unagi) and those were enthusiastically scarfed down! We paid $110 including tip for the entire meal which I think was standard for our order. Next time I’m in the area I’ll try other specialty rolls on the menu! I enjoyed the Miso soup and Cowboy Bepop sushi at this restaurant. However, the other sushi roll had a fishy taste, indicating it was not fresh. I was also disappointed with the laziness of the waiters who refused to seat us upstairs, despite there being tables available. In the past at American Oak, we were never denied seating upstairs when requested. The waitress claimed there was no seating upstairs, but I pointed out there were tables and chairs available. The waiter then explained that they only seat larger parties upstairs for safety reasons, which left me confused as larger parties would require more trips up and down the stairs. Typically, I leave a generous tip as I understand the importance of gratuity in the service industry. However, due to the poor service and lack of effort, I would rather dine at my usual spot, Sakura, which offers better hospitality and higher quality fish. Overall, I do not plan on returning to this restaurant as the service at Sakura is superior in both quality and atmosphere. Food: 4 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 4
Yojimbo exceeded my expectations with its exceptional dining experience. The ambiance instantly transported me to Japan, creating an authentic and peaceful atmosphere. The chicken teriyaki was the highlight of the evening, truly outstanding in every way. The chicken was tender and cooked perfectly, coated in a delicious teriyaki sauce that perfectly balanced sweet and savory flavors. Each bite was a burst of flavor that left me wanting more. The generous portions at Yojimbo were also impressive, ensuring that I left feeling completely satisfied. The staff were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu, enhancing the overall positive experience. In summary, Yojimbo offers a memorable dining experience with its delicious chicken teriyaki and generous portions. For those in search of authentic Japanese cuisine and a delightful dining experience, Yojimbo is a must-visit.
