The french fries are delicious and have a great crunch to them, the wait staff was absolutely stellar and the dessert was to die for. Already have reservations to go back in about a week, 10/10 Even if I had to wait over an hour for the food I'd go there. Just fantastic. A note to mention! They have gluten free options for my friend who can't have it, and he says the food was out of this world, as well as the desserts.
Absolutely loved treating my friends to dinner here. The steak was massive and tasted juicy and delicious. Perfectly cooked.
I ordered the calamari and clams off the appetizer menu for lunch with my husband. I was mind boggled, they battered and fried lemon slices with the calamari and it was DELICIOUS. Genius. There were pepperoncini in there too, clams were great as well, but I?m just stuck on that amazing calamari and lemon pairing. ??
We generally enjoy going to Frankie's, but today's visit was less than wonderful. Hubs and I shared the hummus plate it's not your traditional Middle Eastern hummus, but was served with cucumbers, tomatoes, pickled red onions and feta. Easily enough for two as an appetizer. Hubs had linguini with clams. Plenty of clams and he said it was quite good. I had the fish and chips. Easily the WORST fried fish I've ever had. Batter was thick and tasted like overcooked pancake batter dark, oddly sweet and very greasy. After I pulled off the coating, there was very little fish left. I mentioned this to our server who took the pieces of coating back to the kitchen to show the chef. I heard nothing more about it and I was charged the full price for the meal a discount would have been appreciated, especially at an upper scale restaurant like this. PLUS WARNING they charge 50 cents for a tiny side of ranch dressing that was suggested by the server. This seems downright cheap for a restaurant charging these prices. BTW their French fries are WONDERFUL! This is decidedly a low key casual restaurant with a chef driven menu. We will continue to go back. When they're good, they're great. When they miss, they miss by a mile.
2020 Excellent food, great atmosphere, reasonable prices, our default place to visit while in Albany and looking for a meal. Happy hour menu and prices can't be beat. As omeone who enjoys micro beers, the one area I could suggest improvement would be a wider selection, as they usually have 3-4 on tap. UPDATE 2022: A year and some months later we visited again for lunch today. The prices for happy hour starters have doubled, drink prices are 1$ off, the service was great as always but the product was abysmal compared to what we had experienced in the past and expected. A 16$ pulled pork nachos plate with a tablespoon of sour cream, cold, nearly end of life smelling pork and perhaps a half cup of cheese on an 8 cast iron serving dish was a shock for the normal quality we'd come to expect. The pub burger used to be 8-9$, is now 15$. The quality of food and value in each dish has quickly diminished to the point I don't know if we'll justify the treck out to north Albany anymore.
