How to describe a day out of time. the simplicity of the place, the furnishings, the reception, the menu of the day, the only variant, the wine map, of course aisle. a torched pie with fine paste, cooked with wood fire, one after the other until you say enough accompanied by a white or red pinot, unless you prefer the gray pinot, all is served with a smile and as only will allow you to enjoy the sweetness of time and place. the place said meisenbuckel means "the butt of the alouettes", in a distant past it was called "the river of the aulnes" do not omet to engage the conversation on the mushrooms, you will discover in the person of andre heitz, a warned mycologist. the only problem, how to discover this little paradise lost?No postal address, not in the phone book, so you only have to go to its discovery during a beautiful sunny day.
The frame is bucolic, the torched pie is excellent. We had a very nice party with friends. very nice place not to be too imaginative so that it keeps its authenticity.
Nothing to do with a classic restaurant, let's say a meal at the living room. do not look for the map, only the flambée house pie. Don't be in a hurry, a pie at once, but cooked and watched with love. Not expensive at all. A great moment of simplicity and feast in a friendly setting.
We were taken here by our lovely gite hosts M and Mme Stauffer, who know all the best addresses in the Val de Ville! The Cafe du Chasseur is at the top of the village, which has an interesting patrimony...most of its old houses are still standing and the cafe displays fascinating photos of the village today and a hundred years ago. We were there on a rainy Thursday night, so no terrace for us! The owner (a former teacher who inherited the business from his mother) cooks absolutely superb flammekueche in a wood oven...these are an Alsatian speciality, with bacon, cream and onion baked on a super-thin and crispy pastry base. He is renowned for them locally. Don't be put off by the plain decor and simple ambiance! He and his wife are very hospitable and the setting at the head of the valley is magnificent. We've eaten flammekueche many times but never like this...and the dessert version, with apples, cinnamon and a tot of calvados, is gorgeous too.
