We definitely plan on returning and will recommend this place to others. Looking forward to trying the peanut soup next time, it's been too long.
My wife and I absolutely adore Buutchiis Grille. The food is fantastic, always freshly made and cooked perfectly. We particularly enjoy coming on Sunday afternoons when they have FuFu and peanut soup. My wife always orders the Jerk chicken platter with plantains and jollof rice. The staff is always so friendly and the service is top-notch. This restaurant has definitely earned a spot on our list of top 10 restaurants in the Philadelphia area.
I was really excited to find fried red snapper available nearby. I ordered the red snapper platter with cabbage, but instead received two sides of plantains. No big deal, but I was really looking forward to trying the cabbage. I also requested my snapper to be fried hard. I really wanted to enjoy my meal, but unfortunately I was disappointed. There was only one person working, who seemed overwhelmed with fulfilling orders. Understaffing may have been the issue. My fish was dry, not because I asked for it to be fried hard, but because it seemed to have been cooked earlier and reheated. I could tell because my request for it to be fried hard was not fulfilled. The skin was not crispy, and I didn't hear any sizzling or smell anything cooking. My platter was prepared quickly, but the seasoning on the fish, beans, and rice was good. The plantains were not to my liking. It seems like this restaurant is best visited early for fresh fried fish. I will continue my search for a place that fries fresh fish on the spot in this area.
Delicious, satisfying, reliable, outstanding service. Whenever I can, I order the Buutchiis- jerk chicken platter with rice, peas, and cabbage. It's unmatched.
This restaurant is a hidden gem with great food and generous portions at reasonable prices. We visited on a quiet Thursday night before going to the theater. The owner took our order, made some suggestions, and then quietly prepared our food while singing songs from his culture. The food came in to-go containers, but we ended up eating everything because we were so hungry. My husband had the goat with broccoli and jollof rice, while I had the curry chicken, mac and cheese, and fried yams. The dishes had a bit of spice, but it was manageable for me, so I think most people would be fine. This is not a fancy place, so you just ring the bell at the counter to place your order and enjoy some great food. The atmosphere was warm and clean.
