Sweet Caroline's - Ames

The 2 star rating is not for the food, but it is for the chicken wing policy. let me explain: normally, when they buy chicken wings, a spice or a dive with the wings is included. not sweet carolines. I wanted to order 20 wings for $19.99 when I found out I had to pay for the ranch or the blue cheese dip. I canceled the order. hint: I would pay a little more if the bathroom was included. that is the principle of the thing. jethro’s offers unlimited dives with their wings. I have the shrimp poboy. a little expensive, but delicious. my wife got the ribeye sandwich that was too spicy but tasty.

I revisited on 6/15/22 and had the same great service. This time I tried the steakburger with mushrooms and Swiss cheese. It was good, but a bit dry. The side was carrots and mashed potatoes, the carrots had an earthy taste and the potatoes were chunky. For a starter, I had the chicken gizzards, which were delicious and crispy. Overall, not a bad post-covid dining experience, but a bit pricey. I will definitely be returning.

The restaurant was not very busy, the staff was friendly but seemed a bit disorganized. The food was decent, but the prices were a bit high for the quality. I might come back for drinks, but I probably won't dine here again.

We love the dining atmosphere at this restaurant - it's our go-to spot whenever we visit Ames! The upper floor play area is also fantastic. We can't wait to try the outdoor terrace this summer!

Nice atmosphere. Industrial, sports on all TV's. Not too loud to carry on conversations.Appetizer were portions small. We made it work with 2 apps and 10 people. Entree portions XL. Food had nice flavor. Fried food wasn't overly greasy. Waitress was great, took our orders timely and made sure to get our order in before a larger group seated after us, which we appreciated.Was told they didn't take reservations but when we were seated we're asked if we're another larger group that was supposed to be there at the same time. Maybe you can call in day of? We didn't have an issue finding a place to sit large enough for our group and we didn't have to move tables, so that was nice. Overall good experience.
