An absolute gem! Got a recommendation of a connaiseur of cuisine in France when I was complaining about the quality of typical french restaurants.
Disappointment and service are not at the level of the proposed prices. the menu was very good but there are so many very good more affordable tables in the surroundings. Too bad the restaurant seems outdated.
Luxurious atmosphere, but price a little high 39,49 and 59 euros vis to what is served. the framework raises prices
Forty years ago, when we lived in Germany,we often traveled to the charming city of Ammerschwir, France, on the East side, Alsace Region in order to dine at the fabulous Aus Armes de France! The restaurant was a four star, with exquisite food! We again visited this restaurant, with expectations of grandeur. This was in 2015, when we spent 5 weeks traveling throughout France and Germany. We excitedly arrived at the Hotel, which is charming. WE DELIGHTED AT THE UPGRADED ROOMS. We spent a week there, purchasing food at the local, markets to have in our room! What a charming small city, with wineries everywhere, as this is Gewurztraminer grape country.,We wandered through the vinyards, visited the wineriesand spoke to the charming townspeople! We love the family whomowns Aus Armes De France, but the chef, who is the son of the original chef, did not meet up to the quality of the superb cooking of his Father. Our meals 40 years ago were more that five star. Our meal in 2015 was about a two to three star...fancy servng, but bland fish, escargots that had some kind of strange " pudding" sauce. The Chef, currently, Yohann Giraud, is mentioned as current chef. We have forgotten wheter this is same chef. Perhaps the chef had a " bad night". However, even one of the women who worked at one of the wineries and who lives in the town, said, " the food is not the same".However, please go to,thos charming hotel,,meet the charming and gracious owners, the Gaertner famiky, enjoy the town and surrounding vinyards, sip the wine in the wineries, go to the local markets, enjoy fresh vegetables, fruits and home made pate's, and travel to the nearby city of Colmar! Stay here at Aus Armes de France, and do try the dining. It is definitely worth the visit! What we are saying is that there is no comparison of the meal 40 years ago compared to what we had in 2015, but it is definitely worh the visit! Plase note that the Date that we visited did not give us the option of when we actually visited, which was June 2015!
