I was on Emmet Cahill's tour of Ireland and this was one of our stops to eat. It is such a wonderful pub and the owner went out of his way to try to find me a Guinness Zero. When he couldn't locate one, he made me a non alcoholic Irish Coffee. Very friendly with a smile! I loved it so much!! The food was delicious too!!
Had a meal here with the family- there were 16 of us just walked in . Staff were great with us. The food was good atmosphere in the pub was great. The younger members spent a few more nights in here compared with us oldies really enjoyed it.
Unbelievable service, meals and staff. So friendly. Huge meals. Excellent atmosphere. Must do in Cararroe area.
If you're in Connemara and looking for an authentic Irish experience that includes food, fun, and music, look no further than Aodan O'Shea's An Christin (The Kitchen . Ths lively pub in the center of town offers a varied menu (bia, ol , non-stop craic, and music (ceol in Irish as well as English. We discovered this find on an overnight stay in Carraroe before departing on the ferry from nearby Rossaveal to the Aran Islands. An Chistin has several rooms, so we opted for a table in a quieter section where we could still enjoy the ceol. We arrived around 9 p.m. and were delighted to find the restaurant's kitchen still open. At that hour I passed on the reasonably priced and mouth-watering sounding mains like duck in red wine sauce, lamb in port jus, etc., and settled for starters. The chicken mushroom vol-au-vent was delicious, and the bruschetta the best I've had. (If we pass through on our return, I'll try the chowder and homemade brown bread--and the bruschetta again! My husband opted for the Mountain Burger, and the owner himself stopped by to congratulate him on finishing this ample sandwich that was topped with cheese and smoked bacon and came with chips (fries and a salad. The desserts sounded intriguing--deconstructed lemon meringue pie, pavlova, white coffee mousse--but we were satisfied with our meals. In addition to a kids section, the menu offers a selection of pizzas including a creative dessert pizza! The owner said that Chef Francois Scandelo had special culinary training, evidenced in the inventive and tasty dishes.
