Írjon visszajelzéstI've been in the USA for 7 years and have never experienced such a bad hospitality in one of the US rehabilitators. This is the worst restorer for hospitality. Here's what happened to me when I visited Pickles to brunch today (i.e. 2/1/2014). I went to this restorer on Saturday at 11:30. I was very hungry. I sat in a place. Server came and gave me the menu. He did not turn up to 10 minutes, so I called him and ordered “Uttapam” and tea, I told him that he served me tea after uttapam. Without warning me that uttapam takes 30 minutes to prepare that he went in and gave the order. I was in the impression that I got uttapam in 5 or 10 minutes. After 5 minutes he came and served me tea. I told him I can't do it until I finish uttapam. He took it in. I waited for uttapam for 15 mintues, and meanwhile I realized that the buffet started for lunch. Since I did not get my uttapam and I was very hungry, I told the server to cancel uttapam and I will take the buffet. He went in and came after a few minutes and told me that uttapam is on the grill. But I told him to cancel the Uttapam since I had lunch. He didn't say anything, and I went on with my lunch. After some time he bought Uttapam. I was shocked to see Uttapam in my place. He even waited for me before he put uttapam on my table. He laid uttapam and went. When I saw uttapam on my table, I was shocked. I called the server and asked him why he set it when I canceled it. Then he started telling me that as soon as any article is on the grill, we can't cancel it. When I asked him why you told me that when I asked him to quit. When I started my lunch, you ask me to take both. When I started with this server, the owner of the restorer Mr.Nageshware Rao heard our conversation and he began to arguring with me. He told me you ordered it and if it's on the grill, you have to take it, there's no other way. When I told him that your server did not inform me that I must accept the order when it is on the grill. He wasn't able to listen to me at all. When I told him I'm going to review it. He got angry and asked me if I threatened him. I said yes, I'm threatening because you didn't really tell me about the order. Then he lifted his pitch and told me, "I don't care about your damn review, go and do what you want." I was surprised and shocked to hear that. I mean in India there is a saying “Atiti Devo Bava” means “Guest is like God”. Here I see a person who is the owner of the restaurant and when I went there as a paying guest, he humiliated me with such a excitement, I never decided to go this place again in my whole life. Finally, I pay both for uttapam and for lunch buffet. I mean, we go to restaurants to have some rest, but here I see a restaurant that gives you more stress than peace.
In my opinion, the restaurant has a cozy, home-like feel. The employees remember their regulars, and the colorful walls and artwork make you feel welcomed every time you visit. It's located in City Plaza, where there is plenty of parking available; however, it can be difficult to find a spot during peak hours, such as lunch and dinner. Keep in mind that Pickles is not the only restaurant in City Plaza, which contributes to the crowded parking situation. I recommend arriving about 10 minutes before you're hungry to give yourself time to find parking. Just a heads-up: the restaurant is closed from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. I found this out the hard way when I showed up at 4 PM craving Indian food, only to discover they were closed. I ended up taking a menu from outside the restaurant. As for the menu, they offer a variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes, including chicken, mutton, and seafood. So far, I've tried the kadai paneer, karaikudi fries, and samosas, and I’ve found the food to be quite tasty. However, I've experienced some inconsistencies in flavor when ordering the same dish on different occasions. I suspect this is due to the presence of multiple chefs, each having their own cooking style. Lastly, I should mention that their prices are somewhat on the higher side.
I arrived at around 11:30 a.m. on a Saturday, feeling very hungry. I sat down and was given a menu by the server. However, he did not return for ten minutes, so I called him over and ordered "Uttapam" and tea, requesting that the tea be served after the Uttapam. Without informing me that the Uttapam would take 30 minutes to prepare, he placed the order and went inside. I assumed I would receive the Uttapam within 5 to 10 minutes. Five minutes later, he brought me the tea, but I explained that I couldn't drink it until I finished the Uttapam. He took it back. After waiting for 15 minutes without the Uttapam, I noticed the lunch buffet had started. Since I was still very hungry, I asked the server to cancel the Uttapam because I wanted to have the buffet instead. He went inside and returned a few minutes later to inform me that the Uttapam was on the grill. However, I insisted on canceling it since I was switching to the buffet. He didn’t respond, and I proceeded with my lunch. After a while, the server brought out the Uttapam anyway. I was shocked that he placed it on my table without waiting for my approval. When I asked him why he served it after I had canceled, he explained that once an item is on the grill, it cannot be canceled. I confronted him about why I wasn’t informed of this when I requested the cancellation. As I was speaking with the server, the restaurant owner, Mr. Nageshware Rao, overheard our conversation and started arguing with me. He insisted that since I had ordered it and it was on the grill, I had to accept it. I explained that the server had not communicated properly. The owner was dismissive and refused to listen. When I mentioned that I would write a review about my experience, he became angry and asked if I was threatening him. I said yes, because the lack of communication regarding the order was unacceptable. He raised his voice and told me, “I don’t care about your review. Go ahead and do what you want.” I was taken aback by his attitude. In India, we have a saying, “Atithi Devo Bhava,” meaning “The guest is like God.” Yet here I was, being treated rudely by the owner of the restaurant. By the end of my visit, I ended up paying for both the Uttapam and the lunch buffet. I believe restaurants are meant to provide a place of peace and enjoyment, but this experience only brought me stress. I have decided never to return to this establishment.
The restaurant has a cozy, homely feel, with employees who remember their regulars, making every visit feel personal. The bright walls and artwork seem to extend a warm welcome every time you walk through the door. Located in City Plaza, there is ample parking available, though it can get quite crowded during peak hours, such as lunch or dinner. Keep in mind that there are several other dining options in the plaza, which contributes to the busy parking situation. It’s a good idea to arrive about 10 minutes early to secure a spot. Also, be aware that the restaurant is closed from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM; I learned this the hard way when I arrived at 4:00 PM craving Indian food, only to find them closed. As for the menu, they offer a range of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes, including chicken, mutton, and seafood. I’ve tried the Kadai chicken, Karaikudi fries, and samosas, all of which were delicious. However, I have noticed some inconsistency in the flavors; on occasion, the same dish hasn’t tasted quite the same as the first time, which I suspect could be due to the presence of multiple cooks, each with their own style. One caveat is that the prices are somewhat on the higher side. Overall, though, Pickles Indian Kitchen is definitely worth a visit!
