Faliraki - Athens

Comfortable seating, friendly service and fantastic eating.

Not only because the food is delicious, but because it has never been in a restaurant like this. always. when they arrive, they might think it small, even curious, but they will soon realize that they have just stepped into this jovial couple Greek dining/living room, and they just want to force them what is in their kitchen today. our hearts and bounces are full.

Can’t say enough good things about Faliraki and the amazing ownership. Stopped in around American dinner time 6:00 PM) and proceeded to have the best 3 hours I can recall at a restaurant. Michael is a wonderful owner, host and conversationalist, excelling in English. He prepared a sampling of classic dishes that he and his wife had prepared earlier in the day: mousaka eggplant, mincemeat, spices, cream and a light garnish of shredded cheese), “pork in the oven” an oven-braised pork roast with orange juice, beer, mustard, garlic, spices, honey, etc), roasted potatoes with olive oil and spices, Greek salad, and homemade bread. The food was out-of-this-world delicious!! He sat with me for my pre-dinner beers and while I ate, talking about any and everything...cumulatively 3 hours. He accepted American dollars $5s and $20s) as I hadn’t exchanged currency yet. I only wish I had been able to meet his wife as well! I don’t know if I’ll ever be back in Athens, but if I am, I’ll be stopping back at Faliraki, and you should too.

It doesn’t get much more authentic Greek than this. It’s like stepping off the street and straight into a locals home for dinner. Warm and welcoming couple will offer you the selection of dishes they’ve prepared that day. No set menus here. Everything we had was delicious. Very welcoming of locals and tourists alike. Wonderful home cooking with a unique experience.

I thought it was wonderful, we followed the owner's suggestions ; I had lamb liver cooked with lettuce (wow!! and my friend the roast beef (which was unfortunately very dry so she didn't enjoy it as much as me and we shared a big Greek salad and drank a local beer each. I was happy, my stomach was happy, my travel budget was happy (24€ in total and I recommend it to everyone!
