The Local 706

I really enjoyed the Local 706!! My friends said their Buffalo chicken was too spicy, but I got the Asian and pollo tacos and was going Hamm. I also got a huge $5 margarita which was so good!! Even better, the tacos were only $2 each, so this was a pretty inexpensive dinner for me. I want to come back and try the bowls!

Best burger we've had in Athens by far. Got the mushroom Swiss and everything was wildly good. Homemade sauces and good beer selection, decently priced for what it is. We will surely be back!

Local 706 is an interesting place.Located at Five Points, it has a large front balcony for great people-watching. The servers are all generally friendly as well, and prices are reasonable.However, as a friend of mine said, you don 't go to Local 706 for the food. The food is very OK, so it 's not the place to go if you 're looking for great food nor great bar food (the nearby The Royal Peasant is far superior in this regard).Their margs are $5, which is a fantastic price, however, at least their spicy margarita is below average. Maybe it was a one-off, but though it had the jalapeño flavoring, spice it had not. Even worse, it was WAY overly sweet. I hope they don 't put as much agave syrup in mine as they usually put in (again, hoping it 's a one-off).It 's generally a nice place to meet friends after work, but there are nicer places if you want to get a good drink (like Bar Bruno next door) or decent food (many places in Five Points).

It is an excellent local hang-out with above-average bar food and a great selection of local beer. Our server was quick to get us our menus and drink order but the bar was very slow pulling our beers and on one of the best local brews the keg was empty and never replaced while we were there. I had wings that were good and shared an order of fries that was hot and well prepared, My partner had sliders which she enjoyed and would recommend. They do add 3.5% to the bill if you pay with a credit card, I was planning to order an appetizer but did not because of the upcharge I complain about this all the time but it saves me money because I order less.
