I tried these for the first time. OMG! So delicious! Next time I am in town I must go back. My favorite was the one with pork, pickled onions, and some pecans with a sweet taste or light sweet sauce. At first I was thinking how will that go together on the baos. It was very good.
I don't know why their food didn't taste as good as I remember. I miss their fried oyster baos. I love their vegan and vegetarian options as they used to be super flavorful. This time the pork belly bao was dry, their mapo bao was very salty. Their impossible bao was the best out of the three but again everything just felt too salty. Their mapo fries were good and not too salty I enjoyed that. I was really sad that I didn't get what I came for and left unsatisfied. I would definitely give them another chance, because they used to be my favorite bao place.
There are some amazing pieces of food here. Some of the fusions might seem off when you first look at them, but trust the chef. Tofu fries are a must, as is anything with pickled onions and pecan sugar.
I usually go to Gu’s Dumplings or the pizza spot in Krog Street market, but I love Bao and wanted to give this place a try.I thought the pork belly was the best out of the trio I got, but overall the meat(s) were salty and on the dry side. None of them come with sauces, so you’re kind of left to your own devices. My favorite bao is at Silverlake Ramen, so I may just stick to that unfortunately.Extra points for the super funny sign explaining how to pronounce Bao though ?
