We have visited Hogshaw Herbs Café on four occasions. It's a lovely little café which seats around a dozen folks indoors and a further ten or so outdoors. The Café is in an isolated spot which is easily accessible by car. The coffee and cake is great !
Sitting in Hogshaw Herbs sending this. (It's OK, no one can see what I'm writing! . This is up with the best of genuine local English tea rooms. Except it does lunch, and all day breakfast, too. I'm enjoying right now scrambled eggs, bacon mushrooms, which I like with English Breakfast tea. It is really good. The tea arrived within 3 minutes of being seated. It is fairly busy and the food came within about 10 minutes, which is fine by me. The eggs are grown on the spot you can see the layers as you come in. The bacon, mushrooms and toast are fresh and tasty, sourced locally where possible. My wife has been twice before and tells me that the quiche and the soup (both homemade were very good. The locally made cakes look fantastic, but I can only look... my low carb, high fat diet, which is working wonders, won't let me eat them yet. Prices? around the same or slightly below the nearby alternatives in Winslow. Today is warm and sunny and I would sit outside to admire the view of their local herbs (the boss here is an expert, and you can buy fields, trees, grazing farm animals, etc., but I can't see the screen in the sun! Free Wifi though. I shall be back here.
When we visited this cafe there were only 2 other customers yet our food took well over half an hour to reach the table, the tea was totally devoid of flavour (Aldi tea bags? and the quiche, although of a very high standard, was unacceptably tiny for just under £5 2 cups of hot brown liquid and 2 tiny portions of quiche came to over £12? We left and had to go into MK to get food afterwards because of the tiny portions. For the price I felt robbed.
Excellent food, cakes, sandwiches and home made soups. Also full English breakfast. Very friendly family run cafe.
