Dipiu - Bad Krozingen

I was there for the wedding of friends small island of Mediterranean cuisine in Germany. very polite and very good food and friendly waiters, atmosphere tidy in the details, place very recommended.

The dipù in bad krozingen is a wonderful restaurant. the service is excellent, competent and very friendly. the desires of the guests are fulfilled without need.

I used to like Dipiu. In fact it was my preferred restaurant in Bad Krozingen and if you really need to be in that town, it was the place to find good food in a nice atmosphere. Well, not if you are Black, Asian or...anything colored for that matter. I was having dinner at Dipiu with a friend of mine when guests at the table next to us started making racist comments and being very loud about it. The guests in question were most probably drunk and apparently well known from the staff (one of them was the wife of a former German president, which was confirmed by our waiter). We ignored them at the beginning and then asked to be moved to another table when it became really unbearable. The waiter agreed and placed us at another table. While we were changing table and before the waiter could transfer our dishes the former president's wife actually helped herself to our bottle of water to fill her own glass! My friend mentioned it to the waiter who pretended it did not happen. It goes without saying that the comments did not stop and we could still hear the loud guffaws from across the dining room. Upon leaving (the evening did not pleasantly extend until a late hour) and paying the bill I confronted a staff member and explained that some of his guests actually made racist comments and had an unacceptable behavior. He took it very matter of factly and said he could not do anything because they were guests. Well, if a German establishment finds it perfectly normal to have certain of its guests insulted it should not have any problem either to have this fact known to its customers and potential customers. I understand that the staff and the management are not responsible for the stupidity of their patrons. However what I find outrageous and infuriating is the way all the people working at Dipiu dismissed what happened and decided to carry on with their business as usual without any acknowledgement or intervention. I can only guess that it was because the racist guests were clearly regular locals while I was a black visitor. I have been visiting many countries and places in the world, including scary little German towns like this, and I am not considering myself very sensitive when it comes to racism because I have been experiencing it quite often unfortunately. But this shameless behaviour of racist entitled guests combined with the attitude of the staff acting like spineless lackeys really is something to be said about this restaurant, some of its customers, its staff, its management and frankly the whole little town if not the country. At the very least stay away from Dipiu. The food is good but is not worth being exposed to its glaucous fauna.

A nice evening we have spent a relaxed evening in the local. the staff were relaxed, friendly and attentive. our dishes, bruschetta mista, vitello tonnato, penne al salmone, thunfischcarpaccio, homemade ravioli. everything was appetizingly prepared and has tasted very well.In our next visit to bad krozingen we are certainly again guests in the di Piu.A question to the conclusion. How to get panted pork with bratkartoffels and salaton the menu of an Italian restaurant?
