Chimes Indian Restaurant - Balwyn

We ordered the dinner feast set.The food came a lot later due to the Fri takeaway crowd, but it was worth the wait. Unlike 'left over' Indian dishes commonly found in food court, the food here tasted fresh like it was done a few seconds ago. Depth in taste and authentically made with love.

Good location, parking was ok for us mid week but I can imagine it might be difficult on the weekends. The decor and table settings are really nice - genuine tablecloths and cloth napkins. Nice touch. Seats are comfortable. The friendly waiter was excellent - brought us water and papadums straight away and helped us with our selections. We chose a banquet and at about $35 per person it was good value. Nothing was too spicy which was exactly how half of our group liked it. I'm sure the dishes could be spiced up if we'd requested it. We had entree of samosas, pakoras and kebab. Mains was chicken korma, panak paneer, tasty dahl, long grained rice and naan bread. All the dishes were delicious and the meats tender. Mango ice cream for dessert was a simple touch but all that we wanted by then. They do take-away too. I would dine here again (and call me selfish, I would ask for a lot more spice).

We ordered takeaway from Chimes for a birthday celebration after we heard about it from a Friend. She was right to recommend it. The food was delicious and definitely surpassed our expectations (and we had pretty high expectations growing up in South East Asia). Will definitely order again and perhaps dine in the next time.

Recently had some takeaway from this restaurant that I have driven past for years. Food arrived promptly and good size portions. The only criticism would be the naan bread which was really tough for some reason. I've never come across tough naan, so it was a bit of a surprise. Otherwise, the food was tasty and we will go back there for more.

Spent a very pleasant evening at Chimes as a group of 4. Service was attentive although a little slow. Food was average at best, this place could be something special with a little attention to detail.
