Mels - Basel

My favorite pizza in the city, time. the burgers are also delicious and there are veggie alternatives if they are not a flesh person. it would be even better if they were vegan options with a cheese substitute (I suspect that a kind of anathema could be in the Swiss.) the personel is really friendly and helpful and the prices are in the basel standard range, no complaining here. the ambiente is on the mood of the old American diners, check the photos. I would like to have more R'n'R music instead of the latin things they play most often nowadays, but I guess they don't go to a place like this only for the music selection. Nevertheless, it would fit better with the decoration and the subject. all in all this is one of my favorite places in basel city:D

These burgers were really, really delicious! also loved the hot sauce. the fresh and warm pizza rolls that came with the salad were also good. prices are ok, good in the did, in consideration of the portion sizes. very friendly and quick service. only more real is that they feel full for the rest of the day:

I like this place, mainly because of the style of food the interior design. The quality of the food is average to good, I used to think of it as a more of a 4 and 5, but compared to the other places, which have improved I had to re-rate it with a 3star. Drinks can be expensive.

Not the experience I was hoping for. The four booths near the window were all reserved (but didn't get filled during my meal) so I ended up at a wobbly single person table near the toilets. The fries were excellent, but my cheeseburger was pretty dry (even though it had BBQ sauce and Mel's sauce) on top of that, the cheese was pretty tasteless. The atmosphere was excellent though since the diner has great music. Be warned that food comes at a premium price, even for Basel, and it's hard to get your money's worth. Mel's seems to have become a victim of its own success.
