Al's Plaice - Bedford

Since the change in ownership, the quality of the food has significantly declined to the point where it no longer tastes homemade. I suggest trying out different chip shops in Bedford to find the best one and then staying loyal to that one.

Having opted for fish and chips, we found that when we goy home the batter wasn't at all crispy, probably fried in stale cooking oil, shame as we thought it would be better.

I had not returned to this restaurant since the lockdown, so this was my first visit back. Unfortunately, it was a disappointment - the chips were undercooked and the rest of the food lacked flavor. I tried to eat some of it but ended up throwing it out. The service was friendly, but it was not enough for me to consider returning to this restaurant again.

This is on my doorstep so should go more, but my experience tonight was excellent. Staff were polite and friendly, the food cooked fresh to order. Chips and battered sausage both delicious.

Credit where it's due. The regular cod chips I had today were really good. Moist,generous cod in a light batter. Chips were nice too. Thank you
