Írjon visszajelzéstCame here for a Valentine's Day reservation back in February and it was delicious! There was a four course meal special with a glass of champagne for around $55, which was great. The ambiance is perfect for a date night or gathering with friends. They can accommodate larger parties and has a great vibe to it.
We tried Bread Tulips last night just because it happened to be in the hotel where my friends are staying and we didn't expect much. It's a hotel restaurant in the cellar, so what would you expect? And it ended up being amazing! We tried one of just about everything, and every single dish was extremely good. The scallops were perfectly seared, the octopus was perfectly seasoned, and the arancini was perfectly soft and delicious. Our server was also an absolute delight and made sure we had everything we needed when we needed it, and made some outstanding suggestions as well. Overall, it was an amazing dinner and I thought it was an absolute gem that deserves to be better known in the city.
Staying at Hotel Giraffe, so I thought I would give Bread Tulips a try. Overall a pleasant dining experience. Friendly service, decent ambience, and food cooked well if a little bland. Best part of the meal was probably the crispy bread with olive oil and sea salt. I also had the arugula salad and the salmon which was cooked crispy and a nice medium inside but lacked a little flavor. Nice experience, nothing extra special. Hotel guests receive a 20% discount.
A year ago I was searching the best deals for NYC restaurant week. This restaurant made the list. My friend and I had dinner at this hot spot in Gramercy. They had happy hour until 7pm for discounted drinks. We came on a Monday evening during the summer and the place was dead. Service was on point in terms of knowledge and efficiency. Appetizers: To start, we took advantage of the restaurant week wine bottle special for $35. The wine was very good and the waiter re corked the bottle to take home because we could not finish a bottle of wine. We ordered the crab cakes and Tuscan kale salad. The crab cakes were very good overall, the only comment I would say is that it was a little salty but all the components are well balanced if consumed in one bite. My friend got the Tuscan Kale Salad, which was really good, refreshing and healthy. Out of the two dishes, the kale salad was the better of the two. For the entree, we ordered the seared sea scallops and Long Island duck. The scallops was really good and the flavors were well balanced. Meanwhile my friend got the duck which was amazing and very lean. Out of the two dishes, the duck was the better of the two. That duck was to die for and personally I could see that dish become inconsistent if it was a busy night. Plus both dishes went well with the wine. The desserts were to awesome. The tartufo is amazing and with the lemon flavor and currents and walnut texture, the dish was a perfect end to my prix fixe. My friend got the chocolate mousse cake with hazelnut gelato, which was flawless. Personal note, go on a non busy night; given the restaurant's reputation I can foresee regular people like us could get ignored and getting subpar service. The night we went it was dead (10 people were dining that evening). Currently the restaurant is offering outdoor dining from Tuesday Saturday as well as delivery and curbside pick up orders.
My impression of this place has been pretty negative due to a disappointing Mealpal experience from more than a year ago. I ordered the arugula salad with chicken via Mealpal and it came with a huge bowl of arugula (which was fine by me) and literally one piece of chicken and zero avocado. It happened about 3 times so don't say I didn't gave this place a second chance. However, I guess a true second chance would be trying it out in a different form, such as dining in for a work lunch. And it sure did alter my opinion! For starters, we got the mushroom arancini, which was really good, and the polpette (house made meatballs and sugo), which didn't meet my standards but everyone else seemed to enjoy it. Of course I got the arugula salad as my entree being the stubborn Yelper that I am but with grilled salmon, and boy oh boy, it was so good that I decided on the spot that I was going to forgive and forget and rate this place based on a clean slate. The restaurant is actually downstairs in the basement level, with a sexy bar, spacious seating, and an open kitchen. Great ambiance and romantic vibes.
