Hello, is it possible to book a table? You can't reach the phone

I didn't like it a few years back it was much better.

The most annoying experience we have had in years.The place was nearly empty with only a party of 6 sat there before us. it took a solid 20 Minutes before the waitress (and owner it seems) came to us and ask if we wanted a drink and if we had made our choice. It does not (nor does she) make you welcome.The diner was amazingly long (1h50 minutes) for very average food yet the menus (with supermarket cheese to be paid on top) were priced 40 and 52€ plus wine.I finally complained (another very long wait for desserts that you have to order prior diner) and I was answered by this lady that " it was all my fault , as soon as I saw you I knew you were not in a positive frame of mind" what an amazing way to address a customer!I asked for the bill and everything escalated , the chef coming out (believe to be the partner of the lady and alone in the kitchen) not accepting that food was average ("well you should go cook yourself" "you are not even able to cook a piece of steak" "get the F..k out of my place" .... these are the niceties I heard from this abusive person!! We left on a massive "F..k you / pauvre c.o.n in french " (from me that time).If we were not civilised and I had not grown up with a good education I would gladly have punched (I have had 10 years training in boxing and Krav Maga) this most unprofessional man .A waste of money, time and a very bad evening .AVOID

Whilst on my annual joint to visit friends near to Besancon, they decided I should spend my birthday evening at Le Chaland. The whole evening was very pleasant, the food was excellent, not a bad choice amongst them. Drinks and other sundris were good too. They even managed to get us a taxi home, which is no mean feat when there isn't a road nearby!

We have seen this restaurant from the shore a lot over the years and the outside had always put us off - it doesn't look like fine dining.But last Saturday we decided that it might have some novelty value for visiting friends.Good choice.First a downside, they didn't seem to have enough staff so we had to wait a bit. But they gave us free champagne so we didn't mind really.The food is easily as good as a number of other fine dining restaurant in the town and they have the added bonus of great views of the river.It really is excellent and we will go again.
