Francisco's Salvadoreño - Bethlehem

I’ve been told this is authentic Salvadorean food, although it’s the only reasturant I’ve been to that specializes in food form El Salvador. It’s similar to other Latin American foods, so would consider it fairly accessable to most people. I went here for the pupusas, which is a national dish. It’s two thick corn tortillas filled with something, and there are several filling choices on the menu so you’re sure to find one you like. They aren’t too big and are fairly cheap, so try a variety. My partner ordered fried pig fat, which was litteraly cubes of pig fat deep fried, which he found to be too rich for his taste. Parking outside is pretty lousy – wherever you can find something on the street, but it’s not in the most busy part of Bethlehem so it’s not impossible. Inside is fairly small, there is a counter or a handfull of tables. Seat yourself and they’ll bring by menus, when you are done go up to the counter to pay. They had a variety of pastries on display in the counter, which I did not try. The atmosphere is very casual, and the place is very affordable.

Food quality was excellent! Service was a little slow, but it started picking up after we got there, and the staff were super friendly. The empanadas and shrimp were excellent. It was a little warm inside, but it was packed when finally got our food; be mindful on hot days. Overall, it's a great choice for food. This place is a diamond in the rough!

Amazing family owned Salvadorian restaurant. The owner and staff are humble and beautiful people. The food is always fresh and worth waiting for if they are busy. Small restaurant but totally worth the wait to eat. Pupusas are my #1 favorite food which they sell as an appetizer. Go and give it a try for yourself you won't regret. Happy eating!
