The presentation and creativity truly deserve five stars—each dish was uniquely and artistically presented, earning an A+ in that regard. However, I'm not as confident in saying the same about the flavors and tastes of each course. Overall, I'd give the food a solid B. While it wasn't a bad experience overall, I'm not inclined to return.
I really wish we had sat at the bar, as Sato-san seems to be an artist at work from a distance. He works with great attention to detail, taking his time with precise cutting and placing a strong emphasis on the presentation of the dishes.
I'm so pleased I finally visited Kiyokawa. I can easily envision returning here multiple times. The service was both polite and efficient. The courses were well-timed, and I didn't have to wait around for extended periods. Although I haven't had Kiyokawa's traditional kaiseki-style omakase, I thoroughly enjoyed the new sashimi-style menu. At $78, I believe it's one of the best dining deals in town.
