Townsend House - Birr

We had a fantastic evening at this restaurant. The atmosphere was wonderful, the food was delicious, and the cocktails were amazing. The staff were friendly and attentive. What more could you ask for?

We went to the restaurant on a Saturday evening without a reservation. The waitress was friendly and found us a table outside. However, the table was dirty and, when we asked her to clean it, she said she couldn't and left us with an ashtray that was not empty. The food was okay but overpriced for the portion size. Despite the restaurant calling itself a tapas place, it was more like having appetizers. The atmosphere was nice and the staff were friendly. Overall, it wasn't great but it also wasn't terrible.

This is a fantastic and budget-friendly accommodation! The owners are delightful and the breakfast is outstanding. The staff is very friendly. I really hope to return someday soon!

We visited in July. Weather was excellent and Townsend House was well equipped to deal with Covid restrictions. A warm welcome by Martin and Lorraine who could not do enough for us. Central location and excellent accommodation. Only issue it was too hot, a rare problem in Ireland! We will be back.
