Pizzeria Al Grottino - Bolzano

Absolutely delicious food and friendly waiters. We had a little language barrier with one of them, but that was no problem at all. My recommendations are Spaghetti alla Carbonara (large part) as the main course and cannoli for dessert.

This is a lovely space, as you walk down the stairs and get seated in the original cellars. The service was excellent and very attentive, and they did provide us with English menus. Shared the bresola for entree which was very good, and tasty. My partner had the scampi which was good, except the salad and the presentation. I had the prawns and cuttlefish which was well cooked, but the potatoes on the side was described as a vegetable pie. I think they need to work on the presentation of the dishes, as they look very messy when they come out from the kitchen. The wine list is good, and all up it is value for money, rates between a 3 and a 4/5. Would go for the setting, and maybe try the pizza.

Looking for a nice pasta and salad , not heavy meal. They were oPen. Like a basement restaurant. Old Rock walls. Ordered pasta carbonara, salad caprese , lasagna and mixed salad. The carbon pasta was quite good and hot. Lasagna clearly was reheated. Tomatoes in caprese salad were not very ripe, though plentiful. Lots of mozzarella. Almost zero basil on the salad ?? Why? It’s quite cheap. 3 glasses of wine. 2 Weiss Burgundi One local red. Wines were ordinary. White better than red. Cost for meal was around 60 euros. They also added a 3 euros per person cover with no notice) which was a rip Off. What for ? Their Stale white bread?? Careful what you order. Stick with spaghetti in my experience. Service is good.

The food here is OK. The issue with this restaurant is that the staff only speak Italian (ok, we are in Italy), but English is not their forte. Service is a bit on the slow side, when compared to other places in Bolzano
