The Convent Bakery - Boroondara

Had been here a few times but limited myself to coffee because I wasn't fond of the food. I have to say I was impressed this time. Not sure what's changed but great coffee, baked goods and hot food. The croque monsieur was cheesy and crunchy. Love the fruit buns, soft and fresh. An excellent array of fresh and toasted sandwiches too. Great coffee to top things off.

Inside outside bakery had plenty of seating with a big queue. Our party had steak and mushroom pie, lean beef roll and chips, corn fritter with poached eggs, avocardo and pickled veg and chicken salad. All enjoyed our meals. My husband ate his pie so quick I couldn't even take a photo of it. The staff were very hospitable and the service to table much quicker than I thought it would be given the busy time. Highly recommend.

Situated in Abbotsford Convent, it's quieter during the week than weekends or Friday evening. Coffee is good. food is bakery-specific so a bit limiting for someone looking for non-bakery-type food. Can be hard to get a seat during peak times

Really love the surrounds at this place. It's quiet, families and individuals relaxing and enjoying a nice lunch and coffee. The coffee is good and the rolls are fresh. Will definitely be back.
