Galleria Umberto - Boston

Well very few places in the North End of Boston sport the tag 'legendary ', but this place is one of them. They are famous for opening early (about 10:45) and closing as soon as the food is gone, which usually comes around 2:00 in the afternoon. The line is usually out the door, but moves quickly. I noticed that many people in front of me got multiple choices off the menu. I opted for the pizza. The pizza is sicilian pan style squares, often known as 'party pizza '. This style can be similar from place to place and inferior to New Haven and New York style thin crust pizza. More aptly described as bread with pizza toppings by some, this place does a sicilian pizza that will turn most non fans around quickly. The cheese is blackened just a touch, and the crust has a crispy bottom, something difficult to achieve in sicilian style pizza. The sauce was exceptional. I regretted not trying the arancini as everyone in front of me got at least one. A must try for visitors to the North End, and for anyone who never has been by when it is open. CASH ONLY.

The best ever Pizza and Arncaini and calzone. It is the crown of little Italy since 1965. Go say Hi to Ralph , he is a true legend who makes this amazing traditional Italian dish for 47 yrs

I hadn't been here for many years but I remembered how good the pizza was I was on a work trip just outside of Boston and made a trip into the city and made sure to stop here. Still delicious! The men behind the counter were really nice people coming in knew them by name and were asking about their families. I got in right before the line started getting long but the line seemed to be moving quickly.

Authentic Italian food, cozy atmosphere, and a steal that the prices. We recommend this place to everyone we meet. The pizza is amazing, and we're slowly working our way through the menu with other food items. We haven't been disappointed yet. However, it is a popular restaurant, and menu items sell out quickly. So go sooner rather than later, or you'll miss out on some delicious food.

The best Italian pizza in the city. Simple, great taste, lots of cheese and always fresh. There is also other Italian food available
