Halibut House Fish & Chips

We stopped in for lunch and we both ordered the deep fried mushrooms and long with a drink. We found out that they batter the mushrooms themselves, and they do not come frozen like many other places try to serve. When they arrived at our table, we both had a large plate covered in mushrooms, 14 of those beautiful babies, along with a dipping sauce and grated cheese. What else could you ask for.The waitress, (Cheri) was very nice.

So they won't take orders early today. I understand it will be a busy day. We show up early to get our order in. Here we are two and a half hours later still waiting. How long does it take to plan and prepare for this day. It happens every year. Poorly managed and poorly run. There is no excuse to justify this. It is just wrong to think this is ok. It is not like we showed up late. We came early. Thank you for the lessons in patience today. If we ever get the food there is no way it will be good enough to make up for this delay. I don't post much. But I had lots of time to wait for the food Definitely would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Breakfast : one egg, 2 bacon, 2 toast, home fries $3.49; what's not to like; served til 2:00 p.m.; the cook is very good, pleasant and accommodating; if you want your bacon light or crisp, just ask her; she tries always to do her best; we appreciate that; the waitresses are attentive, friendly and social; the pancakes here are also huge and delicious. .. and we love the columbian coffee; We're regulars and we're going to keep it that way. Why change a good thing!

Restaurant is big, bright and clean but it's the food that really matters. We tried this restaurant for lunch. They have some very reasonably priced lunch specials. Unfortunately, if you prefer your fish grilled you must order a dinner size portion. Not sure of the logic here. My dinner size portion was ridiculously small. I can't even imagine how small the lunch size is. I am not a big eater but my grilled fish was not only dried out and overcooked, it was slightly larger than a deck of cards but half the thickness! It was served with a handful of fries and a very small amount of coleslaw. Fifteen dollars for this! Save your money and drive five minutes east to my usual fish restaurant, Captain George's. There you will get big portions and excellent quality. I will not be back to Halibut House.

We are regulars and today we had a young girl serve us, probably about 18 or 19 years old she was wonderful, and the food was awesome, Will definitely return!
