The private balcony had an excellent view as promised, and the restaurant's location did not disappoint. The extensive wine menu left nothing to be desired.
The restaurant had a lovely atmosphere and the service was exceptional. Everything was perfect. The staff went above and beyond to ensure all of our needs were met. The location is also gorgeous, with plenty of local attractions to explore. We are already planning to come back with more family members soon! I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone.
The rooms were pleasant and the staff were friendly, but the dinner menu was quite disappointing. Despite driving an hour to eat here, we found that out of the six main dishes on offer, three were sandwiches and the fourth was a rabbit roulade with French fries. It was unclear what had happened.
The location is beautiful when viewed front to back, especially the back: hundreds of acres of lush, rolling fields. Unfortunately, with your back to the front of the inn where most of the lounge-about chairs were situated, you're looking at a busy highway. Worse: You're hearing a lot of road noise. Sitting outside and sipping wine thus became something far less than romantic. And romantic is what we wanted to celebrate an anniversary. Our room the popular Renoir suite or room had an overall almost-shabby feel. The king mattress was good in a room that clearly was not designed for a king bed. The fireplace was a nice touch, but it only burned manufactured fake logs. The drapes had a we're tired look that was off-putting, but they did at least partially conceal the venetian blinds. The bathroom was small, but doable. Bottom line: OK, but overpriced. It seemed to be attempting to hold on to past glories. But, truth be told, we went there not so much for the accommodations, as the fine French food that was the inn's calling card. Nonetheless, we were somewhat surprised to learn that, as a requirement for being able to rent a room, one had to commit to having at least one dinner in the main dining room. Not a problem: We were up to eating there for both nights of our stay. Error. The menu looked like something you'd find in a sandwich shop, with prices you'd expect from a Michelin three star. The wine list was extraordinary, to be sure, and if you are extremely wealthy with a lot of cash to burn priced within reason. They even had some wines whose price could be conveyed in two digits; most required three. The interior is more or less OK, with a few paintings complemented by repro posters, not something you'd expect from a resto offering wines that exceeded $1, 000 a bottle. Often, in situations like this, the quality of service can be a saving grace. Here, the service was so bad, it made the poor menu, mediocre food, insane food pricing, and semi-tacky venue look good. More on this under resto reviews.
My husband and I loved this Bed Breakfast. It has a lot to offer. The room was perfectly appointed and the fireplace was a wonderful touch. The food was superb. The staff was very accommodating. If the weather was a bit warmer we would have enjoyed the outdoor patio.
