When I arrived at 5:10 for pick up the doors were locked but lights on. As Ilooked into the restaurant thru the glass a young man appeared from behind the deli counter with my order. He came to the doorand handed it to me with a smile and said be safe. He advised me that due to the storm they were closing a 5:00 PM thatevening. I thanked him for waiting and told him to have safe evening. The roasted turkey sandwiches were excellent along withthe sides.
We ate dinner there last night. The food and service was good as usual. But the cashier Gissell had us laughing all the way out the door. What a kind and funny kid. Too Jay's is lucky to have her.
The server was fantastic at first, but after bringing our food, he didn't return. I understand that he was busy and the restaurant was understaffed, but he had promised to check back and offer a different lunch if we didn’t like what we ordered. I've been a regular at TooJays for years, and I always used to order the shrimp salad pita, which is no longer on the menu. The shrimp used to be large and served in a delicious sour cream sauce, but now it's ground into small pieces, just like the chicken and egg salad, which was quite disappointing. Since the server didn’t come back to check on us, I ended up watching my friend enjoy her lunch. We found it difficult to get his attention and eventually had to ask the manager for our check. My friend really enjoyed her fried chicken over salad. Sometimes you just end up ordering the wrong thing. Will I return? Absolutely.
I took my mother to this restaurant for dinner, and she remarked that everything tasted just like her grandmother's cooking. The latkes were crispy and delicious, and the matzo ball soup was the best I’ve ever had! The portions were generous, and the prices were quite reasonable for what we received. Our server was patient and attentive, making the experience even better. We were too full to try any desserts, but we will plan ahead next time! We will definitely be returning; this has become my new favorite restaurant!
I ordered a Pastrami on Rye to take home to my wife, which seemed like a straightforward request. However, I ended up waiting nearly 15-20 minutes for it. While it's not an enormous issue, it did feel a bit long for a simple order. When my wife took a bite, she asked, "Is this corned beef?" That's a problem when the pastrami tastes more like corned beef. It was also quite fatty, and there wasn't a fork included with the coleslaw in the takeout. What has happened to the quality?
