Mean Deans Local Kitchen - Bradenton

Fantastic experience at Mean Deans tonight, our first and most definitely not last visit. The host was very cordial and professional while dealing with some difficult customers, but he took care of them and seated us right away. We looked over the menu, which has so many tempting options that it was hard to choose. I was torn between the lobster lasagna and the redfish special and I let our wonderful server, Terra, help me with the choice. Terra said I could get the lasagna anytime but the redfish was a special so she would go with that- and I followed her advice and am extremely happy that I did. We can't say enough about Terra, she was very professional, super friendly and funny, and on top of everything as far as making sure we were well taken care of. We both really enjoyed our meals, the redfish was outstanding, and my wife loved the 5 Cheese Mac and her salad. We barely had enough room for dessert but when peanut butter pie is on the menu, you can literally hear my will break. Well, we decided to split a slice of PB pie and oh man! it was soooo good. My wife took just a few bites and I had to finish it for us because, well, I couldn't insult the person who made it now, could I? We will definitely be back as we're new to the area and just getting settled in, and I am going to try that lobster lasagna for sure. Thanks to everyone at Mean Deans for a great experience, all of you did an outstanding job.

This is some of the best food I have ever ate. HIGHLY recommend. Not to mention the mandarin orange bread pudding which was the best way to cap it off.

Memorial Day bbq and burgers rule so I was initially disappointed when our destination restaurant was closed. Fortunately, we relied on Yelp and Mean Deans pooped up. My boring Burger was cooked perfectly and the fries were tasty and not greasy. The drafts were varied and tasty as well. A nice find off the beaten track. Definitely worth a return trip sometime in the future. Very reasonably priced for the quality of food.

I've eaten at this restaurant before and it's usually pretty good however I messed around and had the baby back ribs. picture below. This is the smallest rack of ribs. I've ever seen in my life and don't even know where you would buy something like that. It's almost like they took a regular rack of ribs and sawed it down the middle lengthwise to make two racks out of one normal rack. I've seen this guy on TV. He's a nice fellow and usually the food is really good but this is horrible and you should not be selling it, take it off the menu. Everyone else, save yourself some time and disappointment and go get a rack for the same price from Sonny's or Mission barbecue or anywhere else . Even a grocery store has better ribs. You know the kind that you get in a bag at the grocery store and you just heat them up in the oven? Those are 10 times better.

Every time I have come to Mean Deans, the restaurant has been almost totally empty...and I have no idea why!! The menu is unique and always updating, they have great daily specials, and the food is top quality! Some things we've tried and liked: fried pickles, gator bites, gator chowder, salmon tacos, smothered clucker, fig chicken, red fish w/ rice and beans, several salads, prime rib pasta, chicken ravioli, bread pudding, and OF COURSE the peanut butter pie!! Mean Dean's is absolutely making it into the rotation of top spots to visit when I'm in Florida.
