Brewer Union Cafe - Brewerton

I had another incredible meal at Brewer Union today! I can't get enough of the poutine; it's a real treat every time I order it. We also had the chance to try some fantastic baked goods, and the pumpkin brownie was delightful! As always, we were welcomed with smiles and received prompt service. I highly recommend visiting this gem of a restaurant!

I was eager to take my fiancée to this diner after hearing great things about it, and we finally set aside time for the 25-minute drive on Sunday. However, when we arrived, the diner was closed. Before deciding to go, we checked your Google page to confirm that you were open, and it indicated that you were. We also reviewed your website multiple times to look at the menu and plan our meal, with no mention of being closed. Upon discovering the diner was shut, we parked to figure out our next steps since we were far from home and needed to eat. I later checked your Facebook page and, after scrolling through several posts, I found an announcement from six days prior stating that you were closed for the week. My fiancée doesn't have Facebook, and I'm not a follower of your page, so without actively searching for this information, we would have had no idea. I understand that local businesses need to take time off, which is completely valid. However, making just one Facebook post to announce a closure seems like doing the bare minimum. Not everyone follows a restaurant’s social media updates, and it’s not typically the first source of information people turn to. I want this to be seen as constructive feedback rather than simply a negative review, especially since many people clearly enjoy your food. Based on my experience, I can't comment on the food or service but can only assess the business operations, which is why I can’t give a five-star rating. I hope that in the future, when you take well-deserved time off, you'll update your Google listing and add a notice on your website. Taking just a few minutes to do this would demonstrate your care for customers across all platforms and could potentially save someone an hour of driving on their day off.

I loved that almost everything is gluten free. The taste was great, love the staff, and the environment is so nice.

Have been here before food is great. We did not stay this time as it was a 45 minute wait.
