I will come back
Visited on Friday while in Southbank. Chose kebabs over a few other establishments what a mistake. The place is run by what appears to be an Asian couple. No racism intended, but I do find that Asians in the food industry (other than Asian cuisine, of course) tends to compromise quality for profit. This was evident in this place. The kebabs are very basic. The meat has next to no flavour and the kebabs are served with only lettuce, onion and tomato unless you want to pay extra for anything else (cheese, pineapple, tabouleh, jalapeños etc), I found the produce to be rather stale. Tomato’s were soft and the lettuce had started to wilt. The price was quite high at $9 for a small kebab which equated to the size of a coles brand wrap. Overall the facilities are clean and welcoming, staff/owners were nice but the food was less than ordinary and the price wasn’t reflective of a kebab that you can get literally anywhere else with all the extras you’d like for no extra charge.
Where do you go when you are time poor and hungry? Kebabs works every time. The taste is satisfactory and the service is relatively quick. It meets the need and the timing. It is more pricey than other vendors, but that is likely the result of its location in South Bank. Generally these kebabs (although we paid for a large size) are smaller than those served at other doner kebab vendors. However, we did not leave hungry and therefore we got what we paid for.
Had a trip down to Southbank in Brisbane. It's a beautiful area. While we were there we stopped for some lunch. It's one of many takeaways restaurants in a large outdoor food court. The place did great kebabs, nice and fresh, very tasty. We also had Falafel which was really good. Reasonably priced too.
My two friends and I had a horrible experience. I had the beef and lamb kebab burger, it was the worst burger I have ever eaten. One of the staff gave another staff member a ribbing in front of customers which brought the poor girl to tears. Not very professional. Will not go back.
