My cousin and I had a great time at the Heidelberg. Being German I'm always a bit hesitant to visit German restaurants outside of Germany. Many times I had to relativize that certain ingredients just are not available or the recipe was based on someone's personal memory or got diluted over time. Not here! Delicious food, great German beer selection, and a cozy atmosphere. My friend loves this place and finally got me there recently. I had some excellent sausage and dunkels. My only surprise was that they serve a cold, almost American style potato salad, rather than the warm German version. This could be a regional decision though, and it was good either way.

One of the great gems on the upper east side. Great food, friendly staff. A local favorite.
