Humble Harry Cafe - Broadmeadows

I returned after 4 years and ordered coffee and French toast. The coffee was very smooth and delicious, while the French toast was nicely presented. However, I felt that the toast was missing the typical custardy, eggy flavor you usually find in other cafés. The accompanying fruits were fresh and tasty, but the poached pear could use some improvement, as it tasted rather bland.

The waiter checked in to see if there was a problem, and I explained that I couldn’t eat beef. Unfortunately, he didn’t seem to care, didn’t clear my plate, and didn’t offer me any water, even though I wanted to enjoy the rest of my meal. He didn’t seem to understand my situation and didn’t apologize for my experience. The menu referred to the chorizo as "bark rash" instead of "speck," and it would have been helpful if it had specified that it was beef chorizo instead of the usual pork chorizo. Overall, I left feeling quite frustrated.

We were warmly greeted by the owner of the café, who is extremely kind and friendly. The food is amazing, and the portion sizes are generous.

I order the chicken and mushroom sauce dish whenever I go here. The first time I tried it, I loved it. The second time was also good. However the more times I’ve had this dish, the quality seems to decline. The chicken breast I had last time was a little underdone and a much small sized piece to what I was used to seeing on my plate. The broccolini was amazing though. It always saves the dish. The restaurant is quite clean and the atmosphere is usually calm. So will I be returning? Yes. And I hope that my feedback would be taken on board for the next time I order the same dish.
