A surprise to find a good new restaurant in Brooklyn Heights. They have made a shabby restaurant look fresh, clean and new and the food is excellent. BYO

Pinto was a pleasant surprise in a neighborhood saturated with new places that aren't always great. Pinto's website says it's been around since 2006, but I'm not sure where it wasn't at the current location. I am glad they exist, and will definitely be back to sample some of their other menu items. This time, I had the dumpling appetizer, which was a bit nondescript. Making up for that was the Shrimp Pad Thai, which was seasoned well and served attractively in a long, oblong bowl. The ambiance is very appealing white walls with grey, modern banquette seating along the perimeter, and accents of cheery bright green provided by live plants. It's a small place and filled up nicely after a short time. The service could probably have been just a touch warmer but the staff was pleasant and efficient enough to be effective.
