We booked the exclusive room for $10 thinking that we would get a private room. The photos of the exclusive rooms were misleading. When we went in, they just sat us down in the corner on some couches and the coffee table that we’re meant to eat on was so low and very uncomfortable to eat on since we have to lean so much. We asked for the food menu and the waitress didn’t give it to us and just listed the dishes on the top of her head and she sounded really unsure of what was on the set menu. We changed to a normal table because we didnt want to eat uncomfortably on the low coffee table. And then our food came. The food looked amazing which is why we chose this restaurant in the first place because they looked nice in the photos. The food was super bland. The only thing I actually like was the creamy pasta which isnt African at all! And I also like the spicy bean salad. The stews were so watery and bland and the salads had no dressing so it just felt like we were eating grass! The Senegalese donuts we ordered were undercooked and doughy inside. When I went to pay, I asked the waitress for a refund because we didn’t end up eating in the ‘exclusive room’ and she said ‘no because that was the booking fee’ but it said ‘experience’ on OpenTable. It was so disappointing. Overall the staff were unattentive, we thought there would be African people working but they were just run by some hippies who were being really chill and didnt really care about serving customers. The restaurant had no African vibe at all, being an African restaurant/bar we would expect some African elements and not just African named dishes. Not recommending this place and not coming back.
I made the booking online because we where planing to eat and watch the show. Turned out that we where categorised as walkings and it took for ever to get food or drinks. Otherwise food was amazing as usual and performance was divine.
Staff were great and tried to accommodate everyone, venue is beautiful inside and a good outside atmosphere but I was expecting more of a Senegelese vibe. Where was the African music? And African staff? The western cover band should have been included in the $30 set menu price, not an added $12 extra.
