First time stopping through Texas and this is a must to stop and eat some homemade barbecue. They had great service and really good menu items. My wife had a brisket plate with Mac and cheese, and fried okra; where I had a brisket spud. Both were GREAT, everything is made in house and you can tell by the taste. 10/10 will be coming back!
We visited the Wichita Falls location on Denver (old Sevi's location) and were not impressed. My wife got the chopped brisket sandwich with coleslaw and I got the Boomtown burrito. The brisket had no flavor and had no smoke ring on it. It tasted like it was made in a crockpot at home. The pork on my burrito also had no flavor. We ordered a side of baked potato salad which was the only highlight of the visit. I also noticed that the employee looked to be wearing dirty clothes to work. The stains looked to have been there for day. The person working the kitchen shocked me by looking at the coleslaw he had on the line and then proceeded to bring it up to his face to sniff it. It didn't appear that the coleslaw container had a date sticker to let him know when it was made. If it had smelt fine to him, I would have asked him to open a new batch as I did not want his beard hairs in my coleslaw. I will stick with Branding Iron and Daddy Bobs for BBQ here in town.
Only 1 star because I had to leave a star. We've tried PO BBQ 4 times since they've open. It's been mediocre or just not good every time. We just had lunch there and realized most of their items have gone up $1-$3 since they've opened. I ordered poppers, a kids plate with Mac and sliced brisket and a burk bowl with Mac and pulled pork.. it was $40!! The quality wasn't even good. My 2 year old wouldn't touch even the Mac! My bowl was so greasy the Mac and cheese were separating. The brisket was mostly fat hardly any meat and was also incredibly greasy and bland. No one asked how our meal was or even inquired on why we were blotting our meal with paper towels. Definitely will not be returning.
A friend of mine recommended Post Oak in Burkburnett, Texas as an ideal date restaurant for the BBQ fanatic. I must say that Post Oak did not disappoint in the way of mouth watering pulled pork with huge slices of vegetables for my meal. I will say that the ambience in the corner where we sat at was bare and lack luster compared to the other seating areas in the restaurant. Overall, Post Oak is a wonderful BBQ restaurant in Burkburnett.
