Cafe China Express At The Pier

Found this place a lunch and ordered the laksa. The Laksa is dying! Delicious-we had to go back for more. Thank you.

An absolutely awful meal! Over cooked, overpriced, minute serve of wok fried Calamari inedible, over cooked, soggy chow mien with a few bits of over cooked, dried out chicken and drowned in some thick, brown, sweet sauce and a plate of tasteless wok...cooked bok Choy covered in another sickly, brown sauce that was so sweet I ended up asking for some lemon to smother it in an attempt to drown out the sweetness. We barely touched any of this meal! This rates as possibly the worst Chinese meal my husband and I have eaten. I honestly don’t know how it’s managed to survive on the Pier Waterfront in Cairns, surrounded by so many quality alternatives. Do yourself a favour and don’t set foot in this establishment!!

The restaurant was conveniently located on the waterfront and had a few people already dining, so I decided to give it a try. The prices seemed reasonable, but the food, while quickly brought to the table, was a bit bland and lacking in flavor. The prawn dish was particularly disappointing.

Great Chinese cuisine to eat in or takeaway. Friendly staff and great location seaside. This is not luxury dining but a good alternative to all the seafood restaurants.

One night we weren't as hungry so visited this restaurant and shared entrees between us.It has a good view of the marina and the food is tasty and reasonably priced. Choices are somewhat limited.
