August Briggs Winery - CALISTOGA

The wine tasting itself was disorganized and lacked professionalism. To make matters worse, at the end of our tasting, this same woman followed my two sisters and loudly accused them of not paying for their tastings in front of many other guests. Regardless of whether they had indeed not paid yet, it was highly unprofessional and embarrassing for her to confront them in such a public manner. As someone who works in customer service, I would never approach a customer like that. My sisters and I all work in customer service roles, and whether or not the accusation was true, her handling of the situation was completely unprofessional and rude. When my sister asked if she treated all customers this way, the woman couldn’t even provide an answer, which only confirmed her awareness of her inappropriate behavior. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere felt negative, largely due to the unpleasant service we received. Because of this experience, I will not be returning to this winery, and I plan to cancel my membership. To add to our disappointment, the wine itself was underwhelming as well.

I’m a bit late with this review, but I didn’t want to miss the chance to highlight a fantastic place. My mother and I visited for a tasting in January, and we were fortunate to have lovely weather that allowed us to sit outside. The owner was friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable, giving us plenty of time to enjoy our tasting experience. The tasting room itself was charming and inviting. We ended up buying some bottles to take home. We loved everything we tried, but I must mention that I’m eager to return and enjoy more of the porch-poured rosé. I’m a huge fan of rosé, and this one did not disappoint. I can’t wait for my next visit to Calistoga!

We discovered this winery while driving through the city and decided to stop by! The host was incredible and provided us with excellent guidance on wine and tips on what to look for when we return home to Pennsylvania. The wines were delightful, especially when paired with the chocolate!

We found August Briggs only from hiking around the city and are so happy that we decided to stop. Colette was an amazing host and just so knowledgeable and friendly. The positive mood made tasting much better. During the tasting we tried all 5 five wines and drove home with two bottles: I added the chocolate pairing to my selection... which is definitely a must! If you are in the area, this should be a stop on your list!
