Waltonian Inn - Callander

Great week at the Waltonian. Beach was great. Cottages could use some work. John and Karen were fantastic hosts and were always available to us. We will return again!

Had to make last minutes plans for 4 guys visiting from outside the country! They were so please with the cottage and fishing! Had a fantastic time!

Made it up last February for a weekend ice fishing with my father. This was our first stay with the inn under new ownership and it didn't dissapoint! Cabins and huts were clean, owners and staff were friendly. It certainly didn't hurt that we caught a good number of walleye and perch. The food at the main lodge was decent as well. Would recommend if your looking for an ice fishing getaway.

The beach and lake are picture perfect, Children play in the water from sunrise til sunset. The sand is clear of debris and pure beige. Families of ducks visit the guest and are friendly and entertaining. Fire Pit are provide to each cottage with firewood available to be chopped by the guest. The restaurant is open at least 5 of the 7 days during the week, with a kareoke night and usually a meet and greet cookout provided by the owners.The cottages are what I call roughing it and in need of updating. Rumour has it this is in the works for 2016. Keep in mind they are fishing huts in the winter and cottages for families in the summer. The water is clear and warm and refreshing. There is an adjoining marina with boats available for rent. Kayaks and canoes are available free of charge at the shoreline. Wi0fi works in cottages closest to the main lodge as it has free wi-fi. Anything you forgot can be bought 5 minutes away at the corner store which also has an lcbo section.

Had a wonderful weekend at the Waltonian...food was great..ambience was wonderful...can,t wait till next year...
