You should not go here expecting a stuffy and fancy dining experience. This is a fun and light hearted venue and the food matches it perfectly. The music playing throughout the evening was a wonderful collection of throwback music such as hooked on a feeling and Ease on down the road. This paired so well with fun dinner conversations and tantalizing dishes. My favorites include the shrimp empanada and scallop ceviche. This is such a unique dining experience and I am thrilled to have had the chance to experience it!
I'm so disappointed! I made a reservation last summer (June 2021), but received a phone call 2 hours before that they had a plumbing issue and wouldn't be able to open that night. Of course I understood, sometimes things happen that are out of our control and reservations need to be canceled. I was excited to finally try Shamone this year (June 2022). The day of my reservation I was again so disappointed that I was sick and unable to leave my hotel room all day. I called Shamone to let them know, and the hostess asked my reason for cancelling; I told her about my unfortunate situation (in hindsight I guess they expect you to produce a doctor's note). The next day I saw a charge on my Amex for $90! I understand that they plan to serve a certain number of dinners each night, but sometimes things happen that are out of our control and reservations need to be canceled. I also find it very convenient that they only take cash if you actually eat the dinner, but are happy to charge your card through OpenTable if you can't make it! If it were say a $10 or $15 charge per person for cancelling the reservation, I'd understand; but to charge the full $45 is just bad business. I'm so disappointed that I won't be making a third reservation here!
It was my first visit to Shamone, but I must admit that I'm a fan of George's restaurants. In a town with 233 dining options, you need to be more than just good to last 5 years, which Shamone has managed to do. I went for dinner as part of a group of 8, which is about the maximum they can accommodate at one table. It's a BYO establishment, so we brought along a selection of wine and champagne. The prix fixe menu is priced at $45 for a set course featuring 15 small plates. The menu changes daily, so I won't go into specifics, but the food was delightful, the service was excellent, and the entire dining experience was unique. I recommend making a reservation, and please note that they only accept cash. Also, the bathroom is fun and worth checking out. Enjoy!
Some of the reviews here are quite extreme and don't really reflect the restaurant itself. This was my second visit to Shamone, and once again, the food was delicious and unique, just like the first time. The atmosphere is fantastic, and each course was exceptional. I expected a 15-course restaurant to be pretentious, but Shamone is relaxed and enjoyable. The staff was wonderful as well. We had an incredible time and highly recommend it. It’s not just a meal; it’s an experience, and you won't find anything like it anywhere else.
Make your reservations well in advance! This is such a unique dining experience to share with a romantic partner or adventurous friends and family. I eat here every year on vacation and the chef(s) continue to whip up flavorful dishes. One of my favorites was the scallop with prosciutto wrapped asparagus ???? I promise you won't leave hungry, and you can even opt in for some dessert. They'll also take care of you if you have a dietary restriction, thanks Shamone!
