Írjon visszajelzéstWent here with my dad and we had a wonderful lunch. The clams and fries were the best I've had in a long time. It's a really nice little restaurant with wooden tables and they have take out. Will definitely be back!
Great food - fast and friendly and made to order. Large eating space and very clean. The sign out front ( on the west side of the road) is Blue and large but you come upon it quickly so be aware of that. Lots of parking. Easy to get in and out of the parking lot onto the Cabot Trail. Easy to find along the south eastern part of the Cabot Trail.
Hard to spot this little gem. From the outside, it's not obviously a restaurant, and it doesn't really look open. Depending on which way you're going, you don't have a lot of time to even notice it before you've passed it by. But it is worth the effort. The owner/cook (Cal)! is a friendly, hardworking guy, and Liz, my server, was sweet and cheerful. There weren't too many people eating in when I visited (yes, they do takeout,)! and I was travelling alone, so it was nice to be able to chat.Inside, there's a gorgeous stained concrete floor, complete with sea-themed little figures. When I visited, the lights were off, and it could have been brighter/warmer-looking. Stained concrete can seem cold...I stopped in on two separate occasions, and sampled the fish and chips and the hamburger. I enjoyed both - crispy battered fish properly cooked, and a tasty burger dressed as I like it. My favourite, though, was definitely the chips. Fresh-cut, and plenty of malt vinegar to go with - heavenly! The menu is primarily grilled or deep-fried sea food, with packaged chicken fingers, hamburgers, lobster sandwiches, and, I think, BLT/club sandwiches for a bit of variety. The coffee and tea are good, and there is a fair range of sodas and juices besides. I noticed several picnic tables outside. Washrooms were clean and large, and accessible.
My husband and I make it a point to stop here. It is a nice, clean restaurant with very friendly owner and waitress. The fries are very good and homemade. We always have the burgers and they are good too.
We stopped at Cal's twice during our stay and were very pleased with the food. The lobster rolls are good and the hand cut fries are delicious. My husband and I like to give small, local restaurants our business and are glad we stumbled on Cal's.
