The Cassowary Cafe - Cape Tribulation

If you're up for an adventure, this is about as "off the beaten path" as it gets.

This was a bit of an odd exerience as we were looking for dinner. it was a bit difficult to find in the dark and then walking in there was only 1 other couple there and no serving staff. The woman working in the kitchen was the only one working and that being said, she did an excellent job of taking care of us and making and serving us food. The food was nothing special but it was an ok place to eat.

Food was delicious. Had the padta cabonara which was creamy and delicious.My husband had the curry of the day which was yummy, if a little on the luke warm side.Service was very friendly. When you park up and enter via the covered gateway, look up to the left as you walk up to the Café and you'll see some rare wild Spectacled Flying Fox bats. They are quite noisy but really spectacular. Around dusk they fly out to hunt.

Excellent restaurant in the middle of the forest. Efficient and discreet welcome and service. Very surprising to find such a restaurant in the middle of this wild nature. The dishes are well presented and excellent, we are here on the high end for an affordable price. Small nice wine list. We also had the classic but hearty breakfast (toast, fresh fruit, cereals....)

Had dinner with family of five at the Cassowary Cafe. All the food was cooked to a good standard.... Kangaroo Fillet was Great, the Curry was a bit bland, Kids sized nugget meals were Great and good portions as well. Would highly recommend if you are in Cape Trib, especially if staying at Ferntree Rainforest Lodge as you are able to stumble home after having a few quite drinks.
