K2 - Cardiff

Having read some recent reviews was a bit nervous when a friend suggested coming here for breakfast after parkrun. However we found the staff to be helpful and friendly, the service to be efficient and the food and drinks to be hot and tasty. The atmosphere was nice too with lots of families and small groups like us. Would definitely recommend.

I have been going to K2 for about 15 years. The food is great…however I will not be going there anymore after my last experience. I simply asked to swap 2 rashers of bacon for a hash brown. The young lad went to ask if this was possible and he came back saying it was. When the plates arrived, the bacon had not been swapped so I politely asked if it could be swapped. He returned to the kitchen. The next thing, the owner came out of the kitchen at a rate of knots, asked me in an extremely aggressive tone “what’s the problem?” I said there’s no problem I just wanted to swap the bacon, he stormed off and when he came back he practically threw the plate at me!!! That’s the treatment you get after 15 years of loyalty!!! Avoid lining such a rude man’s pockets and go next door to a lovely cafe called Coffi Lab where they have lovely staff!!!!!!!

I may not visit K2 often, but whenever I do, I am always impressed. The restaurant offers a delicious range of options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The staff are always friendly and hospitable, adding to the great experience. Whether dining solo or with friends, I always enjoy my time there. My personal favorites are the jacket potatoes and omelettes, and the tea is also exceptional.

I have been wanting to write a review for this restaurant for a while now, but finally found the time to do so. Unfortunately, the restaurant has not been very lucky recently. First, a neighboring bank, frequented by older customers, closed down. Then, a trendy cafe opened in the bank's place, attracting a younger crowd with its open front windows and modern atmosphere. K2 serves the best coffee in Cardiff, but that may be the only standout feature. The staff could improve on their customer service by greeting everyone warmly and helping new customers navigate the menu and ordering process. The kitchen staff should be trained to be more welcoming and the front-of-house staff should focus on being more polite and helpful. The presentation of the food could also be improved, such as ensuring that plates are warm when serving hot dishes. This cafe may not appeal to the same clientele as the trendy cafe next door, so it should focus on catering to its unique market, such as nearby private school students and older customers. Consider adding porridge to the breakfast menu for the older clientele.

The service at this restaurant was unfriendly and unpleasant. The food and coffee were below average. It would be best to look for another option in Llandaff village that offers better service and food. I do not plan on returning to this establishment.
